Stretching
Stretching exercises are used to increase the flexibility of the muscles of the thigh and calf which can aid in the treatment of or prevention of common foot and ankle ailments. Tightness in the muscles of the leg can result in disproportionate stress being applied to certain structures like the plantar fascia, Achilles tendon and peroneal tendon during walking and running increase in the risk of injury. Stretching exercises for the structures can increase flexibility thus reducing the potential for damage.
